The perfect sky is torn

As everyone in the world now knows, Thomas Rew's maiden century in the county championship was quickly followed by elder brother James just happening to be called into the England team to start today (Jun 17) versus New Zealand. Not bad for two brothers who total 40 years on this earth between them, one of whom has just done his A-levels.

Everyone at the club will of course be delighted at such things, and quite rightly. But, without trying to bring in a touch of grey, Rew senior's call-up for the second test will place even more pressure on Somerset's increasingly fragile batting line-up as they build up to an important championship game at home this Friday (June 19) to Warwickshire.
