There was a lovely vignette at the end of Somerset’s opening T20 Vitality Blast fixture against Hampshire last weekend, writes Vic Marks. There were the Rew brothers, beaming at one another and exchanging a modest hug as they left the field having shepherded Somerset to an easy victory in the final overs.
This is not the first time they have excelled together; they combined several times to great effect in the Metro Bank 50 over competition last year. But this was in front of a capacity crowd on their home ground at the start of the campaign. It was a special moment. Let’s hope for many more like that.
