We go again while there's still a chance

It's probably fair to say that Somerset Men have generally outperformed expectations in the Metro Bank competition this year with their combination of youth and experience. A lot of youth for sure.

In the July 31 game against Kent, the result could have gone either way in what looked like a cracking game of cricket in Canterbury. The team's total of 313-9 wasn't quite enough to get over the line but it did follow two other big scores of well over 300 in the previous two wins at Taunton.

"We were confident we could chase down that total (289-8) but we needed to get through the new ball with minimal damage," head coach Jason Kerr said after the Leicestershire game August 2. "We didn’t do that and the innings never really got going.“
