Rew brothers suffer contrasting fortunes as central contracts announced

The Rew household might be going through a few contrasting emotions this week.

Just as Thomas Rew become the youngest player to be granted a developmental contract with the ECB, older brother James was not included in the overall 39-man list.

There may be rights and wrongs in such a decision to exclude James (England seem well covered at the wicketkeeper position for example) but it is hard not to feel sorry for the older brother who was also somewhat ruthlessly cast aside after one test this summer. The decision makers don't have a good recent history of dealing well with wicketkeepers (Ben Foakes anyone?) and this may add to it.
